Everything You Need to Know When Packing

Some people think that the worst part about moving from a home, apartment, or office is the torment of packing and unpacking everything they own. The size of your space varies, and packing up everything may be impossible for just a couple of people to do safely and securely.

Wrightway’s packers know that caring for our clients’ belongings is a huge and important job that requires a high level of attention to detail and coordination.

We know that packing is pivotal. We know that every box we move is considered to be priceless, we value the things we pack and move. So, we thought it best to revisit the necessary knowledge you need in packing.

Our Packing Service presents the fundamental strategies and advice you need to know when packing to move.

  1. Utilize appropriate boxes

Our Packing Service advises to put heavy items, like books, in small boxes, also light items like linens and pillows, in bigger ones. Larger boxes packed with heavy items make the job harder and also have a better chance of breaking, so be aware of the principles you need to apply in packing with boxes.

  1. Place heavier items on the bottom of the box, and lighter items on top

If you’re loading the truck by yourself, place the heavier boxes first towards the front of the truck, for balance.

  1. Avoid leaving unoccupied spaces in the boxes

Fill up the gaps with clothing, towels, or packing paper. It is often difficult to move boxes that feel loosely packed or unbalanced.

  1. Always put a label to each box with the room it’s destined for and its contents.

This will help the movers know where the box belongs in your new place. Numbering each box and keeping an inventory list is a good way to keep track of what you’ve packed, also to make sure that you still have everything when you unpack.

  1. Make sure to tape every box

Use tape to close the bottom and top seams, then use one of the movers’ strategies in making a couple of wraps all the way around the box’s top and bottom edges, where stress is deeply concentrated.

  1. Take note of the items needed of Special Treatment

Don’t let your valuable appliances be treated like furniture. For example, Plasma TVs require special wooden crates for shipping and if you don’t have the original box, it could be ruined if you lay them flat. If you decide to pack it yourself, double-box your TV, setting the box containing the TV into another box that you’ve stuffed with packing paper or bubble wrap.

Our packing services wanted you to have a glimpse of the how’s and don’ts when packaging your valuables that will help you have a stress-free unpacking when you reach your new place.
